My name is Ephraimina Ewuraesi Yiadom-Boakye
I completed Twifo Praso Senior High School (Central Region)
I’m a Christian
I’m Domey Esther Efia. A student of university of Cape Coast and currently studying Educational psychology. I’m also a worker at Pickmix Company as salesperson.
I was born into a Christian home and helping people has always been my joy. It gives me joy to help the disable people, orphans and other needy people. It’s always a privilege and an opportunity to help people in need.
I’m Isabel Apetorgbor
I completed Adidome senior high school in the year 2014. I was born into a Christian home where lending a helping hand to the needy brings us so much joy and satisfaction.
I’m currently working at gunnerz enterprise where we deal with all kinds of car spare parts as a sale personnel.
How did you guys meet?
Emelia: I was in a Christian group with Mavis and She always post stuff about this group called Ladies of virtue. I grew interest in it and I asked to join. That’s how come I became part of this great family.
Christodia: I got to know about Peculiar Women Of Substance, Formerly known as Ladies Of Virtue through a friend at school, who introduced me to Mavis.
Domey: I met this wonderful personality Mavis Sackey on Facebook and through her I got to know about the foundation formerly known as Ladies of Virtue.
We became friends and part of this great family.
Ephraimina: I met everyone through my best friend, Mabel on our Previous Platform LoV
Isabel: I got to know the CEO (Mavis Sackey) through a friend.
Millicent: I met Mavis Sackey on Facebook. There we became friends and I got to know about her organization formally ladies of virtue.
Who initiated this idea?
Mavis: I initiated this idea together with my late friend.
Who came up with the name of the organization?
Emelia: The name of the organisation used to be Ladies of virtue which our CEO (Mavis Sackey) came up with. But during the time of registering the organisation, Ladies of virtue was already taken. So the executives deliberated and concluded with Peculiar Women of Substance (our current name).
Mavis: The name was initially Ladies of virtue conceived by myself and my late friend. As we begun with registration and other things, we had to change the name to it’s current name which is Peculiar Women Of Substance.
The name Peculiar Women Of Substance means, everyone can be woman but it takes someone who possess some virtues to be a peculiar woman of substance.
Substance in the sense of both material substance and virtues.
Why did you decide to go with only females as executives?
Emelia: We decided to go with only females because the aim of this group is to raise virtuous women who will impact society. And that can only be achieved by giving women the chance to hold executive positions.
Domey: We want to do solely with ladies because we want to bring up virtuous and substantial women to impact the society and also give opportunities to young women out there who got something in them to give to the world.
Any challenges when you guys started?
Domey: Yeah! There is always a challenge in everything. Until we get to the top we need to conquer difficulties
a. One major challenge is lack of funds. We find it difficult in raising funds and getting sponsors to aid us fund our project works.
b. Lack of commitment with the executives to help the aim of the vision to be accomplished.
I would use this platform to plead with us the executives to help our Mama with the vision of the foundation to be fulfilled
Christodia: Lack of funds.
One of the main difficulties PWS face is gaining access to financial support. Getting donors is a hard task. Due to this factor, we sometimes have to limit resources for our projects and other times keep postponing the project till we get enough fund.
Emelia: As my sister said fund is one of our biggest challenge. Which affects some of our projects.
Lack of commitment of some members.
This is another challenge
Most of the members are sometimes not persistent. Not paying of dues, not attending meetings, don’t have time for projects, etc..
Mavis: The challenges have been funding.
It’s quiet difficult to get sponsors on board to aid you.
So in as much as we want to help, funding is the major challenge.

We had so many members who took the platform as a joke, there was no seriousness and because of that we couldn’t push through with even small visions.

What motivated you guys to join this campaign?
Christodia: One main thing that motivated us to join this campaign is the love of God and the love to help others. Love is the source of connection to help someone else to a higher level of smile and light.
Also the feel of joy due to the inner sense of satisfaction related to cooperation and sociability. Furthermore, coming together as ladies to empower each other and to educate, impact, support and motivate other ladies and women in our communities.
Domey: What motivated us to embark on this campaign is the love of God and the love for mankind.
Another thing that motivated us is the joy, fulfillment we see in others
Tell us about the vision of the organization?
Mavis: The vision is to make every Ghanaian girl child an asset and not a liability by empowering them, nurturing and harnessing their talents so they can stand somewhere in life knowing their worth.
Emelia: Also to touch lives and impact the society. And by God’s grace we’ve touched lives with most of our projects.
Ephraimina: To Empower Women through the Word of God, help the needy and be a huge impact on our communities and Country as a whole.
Isabel: The vision of this foundation is to raise a generation of ladies / women to be an asset not a liability.
Millicent: The vision of this organization is to raise a generation of ladies who will stand out wherever they go and also stand up to a task in the community to showcase their worth as women or ladies.
Ephraimina: Our Main Objective is to strengthen Women. In our society, women are mostly looked down on, but we want to change that idea so we encourage females to overstep their boundaries set by society that restricts them to prove their worth.
Which people are your target and why?
Mavis: Our target is children and women.
We’re mainly for the rural areas but we still do projects in urban areas depending on the project.
Domey: Yeah, our main target is children, young ladies and women in the country as well.
We are mainly for both rural and urban areas depending on the project involved.
How was your first project?
Mavis: Our first project was really tough because of funding as mentioned earlier.
Its normal for the beginning of everything because we had to fight for acceptance, convince the public that we’re really going to do what we’ve told them we will do.
We had lots of challenges but we still pulled through.
How did you raise the capital to do this?
Mavis: Our first project was a visit to Nungua Orphanage home.
Our major source of funding was from dues paid by members.
The rest was from friends, loved ones and well wishers.
Domey: The project was funded by our dues and contributions from friends and love ones.
Kindly brief us on some previous projects you have done.
Mavis: We’ve had several life touching projects by the grace of God.

We have also had a lot of online summit and training.
Such as
.*three days love summit, dubbed: when to quit.
* the peculiar wife
*women empowerment summit, dubbed: woman, you can make it.
And many more
Domey: A visit to the Sekondi female prisons with interned but healthy project. Our motivate behind this project was to visit our sisters or mothers in the prison so as to make them feel loved and cared for. We also did that as to keep them healthy in their state of condition.

We provided them with the word of God, reasons why we visited them, health screening, drugs, food, care, love, joy and we crowned it with donation of items to them.

Any upcoming project?
Mavis: Oh yes, we have lots of projects in the pipeline but the current one is our bore hole water project.
We intend to construct a bore hole water for the people of Ada Aminapah.
Christodia: Bore – Hole water project in Aminapah Village.
The people in this village, travel about 3km to get access to water, there is no source of water in this village, so PWS want to help them by constructing a bore hole for them and the cost is about 100,000 Ghana CEDI’s
